Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain or harm.

Phobia: an extreme or irrational fear of, or aversion to, something.

There is an exhaustive A-Z list of phobias - from Achluophobia (fear of darkness) to Zoophobia (fear of animals)!

Whilst you may not have heard of most of them – for some people these phobias are very real and very debilitating!

Phobias fall into four different categories:

  • Fears of the natural environment
  • Fears related to animals
  • Fear related to medical treatments or issues
  • Fears related to specific situations

Sheryl has worked with many clients who present with fears or phobias: snakes, road noise, sleep, darkness, being alone, heights, flying, driving, closed spaces, dying, needles, dentists, bugs, hospitals, vomiting, germs – just to name a few!

There is no age limit on who can be affected by fear or phobias. From children to elderly, hypnotherapy may help you to feel more in control of your unique fears.

Habita learned behaviour that becomes automatic over time.

change your habits

We all have certain habits and rituals that we feel are completely normal – that are in fact healthy habits – like brushing our teeth after a meal! But there may be some habits that you want to change – because they affect your health, or how you feel. Or perhaps they are even affecting others around you.

Some of the habits Sheryl has been asked to help with, have been:

  • Bed wetting
  • Thumb sucking
  • Biting nails and skin around your fingers
  • Hair pulling
  • Tics – movements or rituals that are annoying to you, or others
  • Stuttering & stammering
  • Snacking at night

Hypnotherapy utilises methods to appeal to your subconscious mind, to change the way it reacts or feels in certain situations, and therefore may be helpful in changing your fears, phobias or habits!

If you would like help with a phobia or habit, contact Sheryl now for a no-obligation phone consultation.
